One Baptism

Brian today reflected on how fortunate he was to go to a boys grammar school and how when there was a Christian group meeting it was a chance were some of the boys could meet other girls. When Brian attended he was amazed at how everyone was enjoying their faith, singing songs that were different. He thought that perhaps there was something in this and so he asked for some to pray for him and he described what he can only say was an encounter with God. From that moment on his life changed.

His faith then informed him of his journey he would take with his life and after school he then decided to attend bible college.

At that time there was a huge pressure to be re-baptised because some thought that if you were baptised as a child it didn’t count because they thought you had to be old enough to make that decision. But Brian explained that being baptised is not something we do, but it is when God imparts his grace upon us, and that when this happens He steers our life.

  • Grace - is God’s pleasure in us.

  • Baptism - is God imparting his grace into our life.

It is said that God designs us before we are even born.

Psalm 139:13-16

For you formed my inward parts;

you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.a

Wonderful are your works;

my soul knows it very well.

My frame was not hidden from you,

when I was being made in secret,

intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed substance;

in your book were written, every one of them,

the days that were formed for me,

when as yet there was none of them.

We pray that if you are here in your journey

but you haven’t taken hold of that Grace given by God,

then we pray that you take hold and move onwards.

We pray for baby Matilda will be with her in her new life ahead.

Amen
